Mechanical Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES:

➢ Troubleshooting and repairing all mechanical equipment and machinery.

➢ Performing preventative maintenance.

➢ Installing and replacing parts, machines, and equipment.

➢ Performing daily mechanical and maintenance checks to prevent unwanted breakdowns.

➢ Keeping record of tools, equipment, parts, worksheets, job completion status etc.

➢ Procuring tools, parts, and equipment.

➢ Supporting the senior mechanical technician with development of maintenance plans etc.

➢ Proper record keeping and documenting of checklists and weekly reports.

➢ Assisting electrical technician with repair and installation of electrical wiring and equipment.

➢ Monitoring machine operators to ensure proper handling of machines and equipment.

➢ Assist with training of machine operators across the depots.

➢ Communicating with and assisting contractors with repairs, installations and upgrades to equipment and machines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

➢ Diploma in Mechanical, Maintenance, Process or Electrical Engineering / HEART Level 2 or 3 Mechanical/Electrical CVQ certification.

➢ Any combination of qualifications and experience specific to job requirements.

➢ At least 3 years’ experience as a mechanical or maintenance technician in the manufacturing or industrial sector.

➢ Extensive knowledge of mechanical equipment, motors, hydraulic systems, sensors, PLC controls and programming parameters, conveyor belts, high pressure systems, diagnostic software and tools, etc.

➢ Proficiency in mechanical/electrical blueprint design interpretation.

➢ Basic electrical and electronic knowledge, installation, and repair.

➢ Knowledge of recycling equipment and machines will be a definite advantage.

➢ Basic computer and report writing skills.

➢ Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment up to 60 lbs.

➢ Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.

➢ Great organizational and time management skills.

➢ Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills a must.

➢ Familiarity with OSHA and relevant safety standards.

➢ Willingness to work outside of regular work hours, weekends and holidays as the need arises.

➢ Valid Class C driver’s license with clean driving record
