Recycling Partners of Jamaica (RPJ) is Jamaica's premier Extended Producers Organization (EPO), entrusted with the pivotal role of managing plastic bottle recovery from our environment nationwide. Established in 2014 through a strategic alliance between The Government of Jamaica and leading beverage manufacturers: Wisynco Group Limited, Pepsi Cola Jamaica Bottling Limited, Grace Foods & Services Limited, Lasco Manufacturing Limited, Coldfield Manufacturers Limited, Seprod Limited, and SMJaleel Limited. RPJ is dedicated to mitigating environmental harm by spearheading plastic waste management initiatives.
Our core mission revolves around the comprehensive recovery of plastic bottles from the ecosystem, advocating for responsible disposal practices, and fostering partnerships with diverse stakeholders including the public, communities, businesses, and educational institutions to divert plastic waste from landfills. In 2019, RPJ underwent a transformative restructuring phase, appointing a new Board of Directors and Management Team, poised to propel Jamaica toward becoming a global leader in plastic recycling. By the close of 2023, our relentless efforts culminated in an impressive collection rate of 26% annually, positioning us among the top performers in the Western Hemisphere.
Driven by our unwavering commitment to sustainability, RPJ has set an ambitious target of achieving a 75% recycling rate for all plastics consumed in Jamaica by 2026. To realize this vision, we are diligently establishing state-of-the-art infrastructure and pioneering innovative services to revolutionize the plastic recovery landscape.
