Truck driver

POSITION:             TRUCK DRIVER

DEPARTMENT:     VENDOR SERVICES

REPORTING TO:    VENDOR SERVICESMANAGER

Job Brief

We are seeking an experienced Truck Driver to serve our logistics department in a safe and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

·       Transport finished goods (bales) and raw materials (loose plastic bottles) to/from collection locations to depots

·       Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues

·      Perform preventative maintenance

·       Plan – using the best routes to meet collection and delivery schedules

·       Maneuver truck into loading/unloading positions

·       Collect and verify collection and delivery instructions for the Logistics Coordinator

·       Report all defects, accidents and violations

·       Document and log work/rest periods

·       Document kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts

·       Input – ensure accuracy at each stage of the loading and unloading process

·       Comply with truck driving rules and regulations(size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures

Requirements:

·       Valid, appropriate drivers’ license

·       No recent moving or driving violations

·       Proven work experience as a Truck Driver

·       Ability to drive long hours and travel long distances

·       Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations

·       Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions)

·       Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
