In an official partnership signing on Wednesday morning, Recycling Partners of Jamaica and the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association formalised the arrangement to make Recycling Partners of Jamaica the official recycling partner of the 49th CARIFTA Games to be held at the National Stadium and Stadium East on April 16 to 18, 2022.
This year’s staging will see over five hundred (500) athletes from across the Caribbean converging on Jamaica for the premier track and field meet for Juniors in 27 territories. The CARIFTA Games have served as a good training ground for senior and elite competitions. Some of the region’s track stars that found success in previous stagings of the games include Kirani James from Grenada, and several Jamaican icons including Natoya Goule and world record holder Usain Bolt.
This historical collaboration of Recycling Partners of Jamaica and the CARIFTA Games, marries the sporting community with the cause of environment management and protection, and will see Recycling Partners of Jamaica outfitting 80 volunteers with branded wears and arming them with the proper gears to ensure that recycling of PET and HDPE plastic bottles is done throughout the events. It will also see the recycling company placing their large, branded 6x6 cages on the compounds of the accommodation entities as well as the hosting facilities.
In addition to the recycling receptacles and the volunteers dubbed, “Recycling Ambassadors” Recycling Partners of Jamaica has also signed 800 metre track star Natouya Goule as their official Brand Ambassador for the games.
Chairman for Recycling Partners of Jamaica, Dr. Damien King, says he hopes this collaboration will result in a long-term bond between the recycling company and the sporting world as he cautions fans of all sports to be responsible about their plastic waste.
